Description:

2 New Ultra-Compact Satellite Speakers for Left and Right Stereo Channels / Acoustimass Bass Module / Black

Features:

In the 4th series of this outstandingly popular speaker system, the left and right channel drivers are less than 4 high and direct the middle and upper ranges of the audio spectrum with exceptional clarity, definition and realism

The Acoustimass Module uses one 5.25 ported bass driver that accurately delivers lower frequencies with dimensional depth (without the annoying rumble associated with lesser speakers)

The result, when connected to your stereo system, is unbounded realism and distinctive stereo reproduction that is totally faithful to the original recording

The Acoustimass Module is compact and fits virtually anywhere in your room while the Satellite speakers are so compact they're barely noticeable

Sound is heard and not seen -- the overall experience is pure ecstacy!

4Satisfying sound with a minimal footprintJul 24, 2009
I'm using the system as stereo speakers with a very clean Harman/Kardon AVR-154 receiver. As have other reviewers, I find the bass somewhat lacking but only at low volume: crank it up and you get a pretty satisfying response.

Unfortunately I live in an apartment with neighbors I would prefer not to antagonize, so there aren't that many opportunities to get satisfyingly loud. On the other hand, I have owned powered subwoofers in the past and found myself adjusting the subwoofer volume pretty frequently depending upon the nature of the music and the amplifier volume; it's sort of refreshing not to have to deal with that, but I do miss having genuinely responsive bass at low volumes.

The cubes are pretty astonishing, with beautiful clarity at any volume. The Harman/Kardon produces a modest 40 watts/channel in stereo and that's more than enough to drive the cubes with no distortion to volumes beyond what's comfortable in my small living room.

If I had a somewhat bigger room and thicker walls I don't think I'd have any complaints at all. I don't particularly mind the bass shortcomings when I'm listening to recent rock and roll because there's way too much of it anyway (the Troggs sound a bit thin), but classical and jazz lose a lot of depth at low volume when the bottom's not all there. All things considered, though, I'm happy with the system. For the money and for where I live and what I listen to, it's a good deal and I'd do it again.

5she loves itJun 08, 2009
I bought this as a gift for my mother(mothers day of course). She always wanted one ever since she heard my acoustimas 15. She say it is perfect for the size room she put it in.

5Great buy for the price paid!May 25, 2009
I bought this product so that I can use it for my entertainment system. I didn't even consider any other brand since I know that bose is the top of the line when it comes to speaker systems. You will not be disappointed if you buy this product.

5Bose Listener for Many YearsMay 22, 2009
During my initial foray into 5.1 surround (AC-3 back then) my original Cerwin Vega system was replaced on request by the wife by a complete Bose system that consisted of a set of AM-7s for the front 3 channels and a set of AM-3s for the rear. Way back then the AM-3s sold for $400 a set. AM-7s for $600. When I made the jump to 7.1, I needed another set of AM-3s for the mid-surrounds, and I got a set for $175 from Bose. Considering what I was willing to pay years ago, these are a steal. Don't let anybody tell you there are "just as small" speakers that sound "better" because that's simply a lie. I've yet to find anybody that isn't completely amazed by my system's sound. Did my Cerwin Vega system sound wonderful? Of course, but it was huge and space is at a premium in my living room. Bose gives you back your space and lets you keep your sound. And powered subwoofers are completely overrated. Even my CV sub wasn't powered, it was crossed over at 120 Hz, leaving my mains far more efficient. The "powered sub" I have in my bedroom has to be turned down quite low so it doesn't drown out the satellites. It's actually more of a pain than anything, but that entire system was only $200 so I can deal with it.

5Works great, but...Mar 08, 2009
I bought a used system and everything was as promised. Works great. But I was using the earphone output from the TV and sound was not good. Put in a cheap small stereo amplifier and "voila" great sound!
